Career Profile: Adaptive Equipment Technician #1040
Utilizing the hands-on skills he learned while growing up on a farm led this mechanical engineering technician into the job he has today. After high school, he entered into the construction field and remained there for 20 years.
When a job opening occurred in the maintenance department at a local special needs community he applied and was hired. Three years later, the position of mechanical engineering technician was offered and because of his various hands-on experiences, he was hired.
Today he adapts equipment to enhance the independence of special needs residents. His special skill of envisioning an invention and then creating it has led to many smiles, both from residents and their families.
