This drama teacher always wanted to be an actress. She studied acting in college, but became "disillusioned" while in college with all the bomb threats and martial law issues happening during that period. So she returned to Iowa and was offered a teaching job as a drama teacher and has been in love with it ever since.
She enjoys the ability to be "free and unstructured" in her classroom and to write her own curriculum. She says that the "arts are an integral part...of becoming a fully developed human being" and give students "an arena for self expression."
Besides being able to teach, speak and write, she believes a drama teacher needs to be flexible, able to see students' potential, have lots of energy and be a "lover of children."
