Taking blood pressure, giving tetanus shots, and even cleaning out earwax is all part of this certified medical assistant’s (CMA) daily routine. Although only a doctor can diagnose and give prescriptions for ailments, many of his/her decisions depend on the information gathered by this CMA.
She must continually learn about the new technology for gathering medical information as well as constantly strive to improve her people skills. She works with patients of all ages and can give a kindergarten physical in one instance followed immediately by checking an adult for asthma. She enjoys her job because of the variety as well as the satisfaction she gains from helping people.
