This Correctional Officer says his career choice in an Iowa prison is more than just a job to him. "Knowing that I'm helping to protect society from dangerous inmates and working to make the streets safer for the public," gives him great satisfaction.
He also was involved in the Military Police, which prepared him for his current position. His current duties include: resolving conflicts between inmates, diffusing problems in the "yard", performing random shakedowns, and securing the prison. He likes the variety in the job and says there is no such thing as a typical day.
Since becoming a part of the STC project, this correctional officer has been promoted to correctional counselor.
