Take the Challenge
Think you have the skills to become a mold maker? Take this challenge activity!
Set Up:
Mold makers must use geometry to solve problems on the job. An example of a typical math problem a mold maker might encounter involves accurately measuring a 2" dimension while fabricating a part.
Figure This Out:
Find the distance from the bottom of the part to the top of the pin (see diagram). If a .250 diameter pin is used to measure the 2" dimension, what would the dimension be from the bottom of the part to the top of the pin?
Check your answer!
