Money

The national average for construction inspectors is $55,700 annually. That varies depending on the size of the company and the location.

Where's the job?

Hi! I have been a construction inspector for 18 years with a state department of transportation and am wanting to relocate to Florida. How would you go about a job search?

Looking for a change

This is just a quick start for a job search in this area: With 18 years of experience with a state Department of Transportation I would start with the state of Florida's State Employment web site -- then county or a city site. If interested in the private sector, then you would need to locate civil engineering companies, larger construction companies and/or large development companies with construction project managers (if you have any project management experience). Of course check with any contractors you have worked with who are from Florida or have done work there.

What kind of algebra do you use in construction? Do you use slope or something?
